Philip Morris & the Rise of Vaping Culture – Analyzing Marketing Tactics & Public Health Impact
This project examines Philip Morris' marketing strategies and their role in the global rise of vaping culture. By analyzing campaigns like "Be Marlboro" (2011-2013) and regulatory loopholes, we explore how tobacco companies have targeted youth despite public health concerns. The study highlights social media exploitation, advertising bans, and legal battles surrounding e-cigarette marketing. It also investigates the psychological impact of vaping ads on adolescents, leading to increased addiction risks. Despite FDA regulations and the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement, youth-targeted advertising remains a challenge. Our research includes a case study analysis, public health trends, and regulatory reviews to assess corporate ethics and responsibility. The findings emphasize the need for stronger policies to combat deceptive marketing and protect young consumers from nicotine addiction.
